A lab-grown, or created, stone is exactly the same as a mined diamond. The chemical composition and the optical qualities are the same, the only difference is that the mineral is created in a controlled environment.
Gemologists have difficulty telling the difference between mined and lab-grown diamonds, they need ultraviolet light to examine the nitrogen clusters found in natural stones. Lab-grown stones are certified as such.
